Many people have a preconceived image of those who suffer from depression. The patient we saw yesterday breaks all those stereotypes. He is male, mid-40's, an educated successful professional, married with a child, and physically fit. This patient has tried SSRI's, anti-psychotics, and 40 sessions of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) with little or no effect on the unrelenting depression that was plaguing him and his family.
He underwent his first Ketamine Infusion yesterday, with pre-Beck scores of 44 indicating Extreme Depression, and post-Beck scores at 19, indicating the high end of Mild Depression.
